Vertigo in the Swiss alps

It is now more than 2 years ago when Evelyne gave me a 'Klettersteig'-Tour for my birthday. At that time we went to Flims and climbed the Pinut a very well maintained route to cross the 1000m steep wall of the 'Flimserstein'.

This rock needs to be climbed...

But this time, Evelyne and I went to the very center of Switzerland to Engelberg to climb the Graustock (2661m above sea level). The route was quite a challenge for us. Evelyne did the climb pretty easily, but my knees started to slightly tremble, when I looked down.

Focusing on looking upwards helped a lot and we managed to get up to the top finally. On the way down, we somehow lost track of the path and all of a sudden we were in the middle of steep rocks. We turned around and reclimed up to where we lost the path. Happily walking back to the cable car we realized suddenly that the last departure back to Engelberg already left 1 hour ago. Hrmpf!!! Now we ran down tha mountains like crazy always with the itching thought in our brains: Does this mean we have to walk down for 3 more hours speeding up to beat to sunset??

No... we were lucky: at the cable car station a crew of staff working on the Titlis just came down from the mountain to call it their day with a nice cool beer. Fortunately, we could join them on their ride down since the cable car onle ran once again to bring them down.

Happy (and exhausted) Evelyne and I (along with my cousin and his girlfriend) went in Engelberg for nice cool drinks and started to feel our muscles...

Back to Zurich with 35°C

My first week of my leave started with packing all my belongings in Hamburg and moving back to Zurich. When we arrived Zurich at 22 o'clock at night a tropical warmth welcomed us. And since then the temperatures rank around 35°C during the day and 22°C at night and this in Switzerland. Like this we can get accustomed to the temperatures which we will face in Asia.

Today is the hottest day of the year in Switzerland and we decided to go to the mountains for a hike to escape the heat. In the morning we climbed up mount Säntis (2'501,9 altitude). We have chosen the direct route from Schwägalp to the top of the Säntis. (3 hours and 1200m altitude difference) It was fantastic with a challenging route at some places we had to nearly climb but then at the top the nice view to the surrounding mountains and countries.

After the hike we deserved a nice swim in the lake of Zurich.

You see I am already home again and enjoy my country. But in the coming weeks our Asiantrip has to be prepared and all the administrative stuff from moving back to Switzerland but also my name change because of the wedding has to be fixed before we leave mid September.

Goodbye Hamburg

Our last days in Hamburg have started. And the city is presenting itself from the best side (27°C and only sunshine). We enjoy our last weekend visiting friends, having breakfast around the corner in our favorite cafe and packing our belongings (not the thing we love to do)

I really enjoyed Hamburg in the last 1 1/2 year and to say goodbye now is not an easy thing but we can look forward now to the start of our Asian Trip.

A big thank you to all the people which made my stay in Hamburg so great and especially to my team you were great and I will keep you in good memories.

I will miss Hamburg and all of you!
